The WNBA resumed on July 25  the 2020-2021 season with a more restricted schedule due to the effects caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Twelve teams continue to compete in the championship in 22 games until September 12 and later meet in the playoffs, which is the time when the champion will be unveiled.

Another very special moment was the debut of the power forward Damiris Dantas in the 2020/2021 season by the Minnesota Lynx with victory over the Connecticut Sun by 77 to 69. The only representative of Brazil in the league, she stood out during approximately 30 minutes in court with 9 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

According to WNBA statistics, in the 2019 season Damiris averaged 9.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 25.6 minutes of court time.
