Directed by John Landis and starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, the 1988 classic 'Coming To America' tells the story of Akeem Joffer, the African prince of Zamunda, who becomes tired of a life full of entitlements and together with his friend Semmi they decide to explore the world, more specifically, New York city. .
Newly arrived in Queens, they disguise themselves as being foreign poor students and decide to immerse themselves in a completely different reality. They find a job in the cafeteria, rent an apartment and lead a fairly regular person’s routine in the city.
The movie, which is considered a cultural phenomenon and also an excellent invitation for reflection in order to understand these two distinctive worlds, will now have a sequel. With much of the original cast, A Prince in New York 2 will be released in March 2021 on streaming platform Amazon, which has acquired the movie rights.
