On January 06, Brazil’s government announced the feasibility of a project that will make the community and sports fans in the city of Bauru very happy. A new multisport arena with a 7,000 people capacity. The ideation came from a competition held back in 2015 that included the participation of five projects and the winner was the arena designed by architect Cláudio Antônio Berriel Ricci, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from Unesp Bauru in 1989.
The total cost of “Arena Bauru” will be approximately 15 million (BRL) Reais and will be financed through an agreement between the Ministry of Citizenship (National Secretariat for Sport, Leisure and Social Inclusion) and another share will be funded by the municipality. In addition to the gymnasium, the project will count on a parking facility for 5000 cars, comply with all accessibility requirements, warmup and practice courts, VIP seating, food, a retractable stage for shows and a system that will reuse rainwater to make the space more sustainable. The area of more than 100 thousand square meters will be very important for the development of sport and entertainment in the city, which counts on several base teams, university and high performance teams of basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, to name just a few.
The Bauru Basket that currently holds its games at the traditional “Pressure Cooker” should be one of the traditional teams in the city to benefit the most from this project, fans will get a new facility, with double the capacity for the audience, and also renovated, which will certainly be the stage of great games of the NBB, League of the Americas, and maybe even hold a Stars Game.
