Regarded as one of the most challenging seasons due to the problems caused by the pandemic, the last year of the WNBA was also marked by its support for social justice demonstrations and also by the outstanding participation of the Las Vegas Aces power forward A'ja Wilson, who besides being elected the MVP of the entire competition, has just been honored with a statue in her name by the college that represented the South Carolina Gamecocks between 2015-2018, the University of South Carolina.

The player is now part of a select group of athletes who had their images immortalized in recognition of her memorable performances. Althea Gibson at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, basketball coach Pat Summitt in Knoxville, Olympic medalist Wilma Rudolph in Clarksville and football player Brandi Chastain at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California are some of these celebrities.

The statue is located in the home of Gamecocks', the same place where she won the 2017 NCAA title and became the No. 1 choice in the 2018 WNBA Draft by Las Vegas Aces, it is definitely a landmark of inspiration for new generations.
