COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYERS UNDER THE RADAR

Nothing is more certain in the world of basketball than the fact that "college basketball players at the top of their games, are most likely the future of NBA".


We wanted to give our STREETOPIA readers a sneak peak of what the future holds for the NBA, as far as  players go by providing a short list of three players who are being looked like solid possibilities of being drafted in the first round according to the sports news outlets across the US.



Giorgi Bezhanishvili,
Forward, Illinois. Simply known as “Giorgi B”, this Illinois forward has been getting stellar attention within the NBA lookouts, he has been averaging 15 points per game, playing only 30% of game time. Here are some short descriptions of his stats in 2020:

- Career-high tying five assists vs. North Carolina A&T (Dec. 29);

- 12 points on 6-10 FG and eight rebounds in win over No. 5 Michigan (Dec. 11);

- 8 rebounds and career-high 5 assists vs. Miami (Dec. 2);

- 14 points on just four shots (7-8 FT) with four assists vs. Hampton (Nov. 23).



Alex Barcello,
Guard, BYU. He left Arizona after two cold feet seasons but has come back with a vengeance now at BYU. He's averaged 19.2 points, while shooting 61.8 percent from the field and 18-of-29 from beyond the 3-point arc. Here it is some of his stats:

- As a sophomore in 2020-21, played in 30 games and averaged 3.3 points and added 26 rebounds, 15 assists and 10 steals;

- As a freshman in 2017-18, played in 21 games and averaged 2.4 points and added 22 rebounds and 20 assist;

- Three victories in a row in which he scored over 17 points in all games;

- 70% of three-point shots in.  

 


Jamaree Bouyea ,
Guard, San Francisco. His progression since he joined NCAA has been nothing short of amazing. Some coaches refer to him as being a clear possibility of being drafted in the very first round, and that seems to be general consensus among coaches as reported by ABC Sports news. His stats speak for themselves:

- Games Played - T-8th (34) - 2020;

- Three victories in a row in which he scored over 21 points in all games;

- All-WCC Honorable Mention - 2020;

- 2019-20 (freshman):Named to the All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention Team;

- Played and started all last 34 games;

- Minutes Played - 6th (1222) – 2020.
