Retired since 2019, NBA three-time champion Dwayne Wade takes the time off the court to devote part of his fortune to various types of investments. The most recent of which was the purchase of a stake in the Utah Jazz in partnership with Ryan Smith (technology entrepreneur and founder of Qualtrics, who had already acquired a majority stake in the team in the previous year. Investors Ryan Sweeney and co- Atlasssian founder Mike Cannon-Brookes is also part of the group of owners.

Much like Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Grant Hill, who also bought stakes in NBA franchises, Wade took the opportunity to join the select group to make an old dream come true and give the team a new rhythm: “As a businessman, entrepreneur, and investor, I bring a lot to this partnership outside of my basketball experience,” he said. “I’m excited to help take the Utah Jazz to the next level.”

The franchise, like the NBA, expects the arenas to be at full capacity again for the 2021-22 season.
