SOLANGE KNOWLES' SAINT HERON AT A GREAT TIME

Founded in 2013 by Solange Knowles, Saint Heron is a platform that acts as a digital center and multidisciplinary institution for cultural conversations and that became known through its mission, for its position in preserving and amplifying black voices present in literature, art, music and design. In addition to those aspects, it also values ​​the art of great artists (generally independent ones), always revering the spiritual and ancestral acts that contribute to the progress of these manifestations and narratives.



One of its most recent and impactful projects was the production of a beautiful short film starring singer Dionne Warwick, actress Dominique Jackson, Joi, singer-songwriter KeiyaA and sing SahBabii for the 2021 Woolmark International Award, which in addition to honoring fashion and theater, it also highlights the work of the six finalists and favorites to receive the award: Bethany Williams, Casablanca's Charaf TajerKenneth IzeMarie-Eve LecavalierThebe Magugu e Matty Bovan.


Directed by Wu Tsang, the six-minute film, entitled Passage, reflects both the possibility of wearing the clothes and the conditions in which they were made, as well as the most varied feelings involved in this making process, such as contemplation, courage, optimism, vulnerability, discipline and strength.



The agency, in its next phase, is considering launching a dossier of literary and visual retrospectives of the black family and artists through a series of temporary digital exhibitions, which can be viewed on the Saint Heron website. Available for about seven to ten days, a time when they will offer an in-depth look at emerging talent in art, sculpture, photography, design and crafts.
