Given the success of skateboarding and surfing in the last Olympics, we can easily predict that break dancing will be yet another success, the competition will be a first at the upcoming Paris Olympics. This will continue to attract a younger crowd for the Olympic world, which is nothing but good news for the world of sports.

But when we take a closer look at these recent turned-Olympic sports, we can clearly see that they go beyond our youth, that is, it also includes all ages, professions, with an amazing array of diversification. Therefore, it is safe to say that the new strategy of the Olympic Committee goes beyond the new generation insertion.

Let’s take the example of break dancing, and the U.S Army Staff Sgt. Brianna Pritchard, who is a National Guard helicopter mechanic. When she is not busy fixing the Black Hawks, the soldier trains for the USA’s break-dancing team.  About a week ago, she has been confirmed and cleared to participate in the next Olympics, on May 25 she had already been selected and the National Guard showed their full support.

Brianna is stationed in Alaska, she is a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter mechanic for the National Guard, and she dreams of representing the U.S. in an international competition, as she said: “I have always eyed the Olympics because I thought it was such a high honor. I already loved being an athlete. What better way to represent the USA than to be a professional athlete, so I always wanted to be in the Olympics...”

Another aspect of insertion of the breaking dance is the visibility that these athletes will have, in the case of Sgt. Pritchard, she has been a breaking dancer for 14 years and has obtained a professional level since 2016.

In other words, if it weren’t for the upcoming Paris Olympics, Sgt. Pritchard would never be able to show the world her talent and represent the USA.

Both the National Guard and STREETOPIA welcome U.S Army Staff Sgt. Brianna Pritchard to the Olympics!
