LEWIS HAMILTON SETTING THE EXEMPLE OF REPRESENTATIVENESS

Representativeness is fundamentally essential for groups to be able to see themselves in a certain activity, such as the importance of women in performing functions mostly performed by men or from a racial point of view, which for a structural reason does not conceive, for example, that black people occupy prominent positions.

In the United States, Brazil and in other countries where slavery existed, even long after abolition, we often run into that 'traditional' mental state that somehow conditions black people to positions of servitude. Although slowly, changes in this context have been happening, but more is needed, so that plurality becomes the regular routine and that we are no longer surprised by what should be normal, that is, black people occupying spaces and being successful in the most diverse areas.

As well as many black artists and celebrities who take advantage of their visibility to exalt and even give opportunity to so many who find difficulties due to a racial and social condition, Lewis Hamilton is one of these examples and certainly an important platform for the equality struggle.

At the last MET GALA 2021, held in New York, one of the most coveted fashion events in the world, the seven-time world champion appeared accompanied by four black designers for a noble reason, to draw attention to the work of these talents, and of surely, that their respective careers could prosper.

Initiatives like these make all the difference.
