The participation and guidance of parents for the future of their children is nothing short of fundamental. Nevertheless, this is not exactly related to the parents' wishes or reasons, it's a lot about supporting, dialoguing, and making children feel comfortable to happily pursue their chosen path.
In this process, parents who contribute by showing the road ahead through the eyes of their experiences, often end up being a source of inspiration, either due to how successful they have become or yet because they are simply individuals of character who have built strong values.
The story of young football player Endrick Felipe and his father Douglas Ramos is a great example of that. Endrick started taking his first steps, or in soccer lingo, dribbles and bounces, at the age of four in Taguatinga, a city located approximately 20km in the outskirts of Brasília, in Brazil’s District Capital.
As Endrick participated in his city’s soccer pickup games, talent scouts and locals in general, noticed that the boy was quite different, and consequently he ended up at the São Paulo Futebol Clube Training Center, where his talent was tested for three years, it was a period when he had to go back and forth and constantly travel from his hometown to São Paulo. These commutes became increasingly difficult due to distance and costs, his father then proposed to the club to pay for their housing or give them some work so that they could support such costs, but unfortunately the request was denied, and they ended up leaving the club.
Later, Endrick's father edited a video with his son’s best plays as a striker and sent it to Palmeiras Sports’ Club. Soon after, the unexpected happened: the boy was invited to be part of the team and Douglas got a job at the Palmeiras team's training center.
Endrick is now 15 years old, he is a striker in the junior base category of Palmeiras and is the newest champion and highlight of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, moreover, he is being crowned besides his father, who is, in a way, also part of the team.
It all worked out, and the moral of this story is that we should always support our own.
