It was a surprise, especially in the world of Hip-Hop, that Death Row Records, the label responsible for the discovery, success, and careers of artists such as Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, and Nate Dogg, is back under the helm of Snoop Dogg, its new CEO and artist who had the beginning of his career marked by this very same label.

Founded in the early nineties by co-founders Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, Dick Griffey and rapper and producer DOC, the label was responsible for putting rap on the west coast of the United States on the map, a similar time when rap made on the American east coast already stood out in the main media and music industry vehicles.

Snoop was with the label until 1998, and then decided to part ways because of the loss of credibility due to the Suge Knight scandals in which he was eventually mentioned. Ranging from disputes and confused fights, to even being named as one of the main suspects for the murder of Tupac Shakur in 1996.

This is definitely a very special moment for 'Uncle Snoop' as the label is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

East, west, home’s best!
