In order to symbolically honor Kobe Bryant, along with his uniform number, BodyArmor and Repole donated 24 million to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, an initiative decided jointly shortly after the tragic helicopter accident that took the lives of the player, his daughter Gigi and other occupants.
Announced two days after Gigi's birthday when she would have celebrated 16 years of age, in addition to the gesture, the partnership between the companies and the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, also provides for the renovation of sports courts and gymnasiums, in addition to funding basketball clinics and sports programs for the youth in the United States.
It may be news to many of us, but Kobe Bryant contributed to BodyArmor, to become the number 2 brand of sports drinks and isotonic beverages in the USA. The company and its founder, Mike Repole, want to ensure that Kobe's legacy continues to be remembered and that basketball continues to impact and transform the lives of many young people.
This is the largest donation ever received by the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation since its inception.
