50 YEARS OF SWOOSH ON A SUCCESSFUL TRAJECTORY

Founded by Phillip Knight and Bill Bowerman in 1971 in the United States, Nike has become the leading and most valuable sports equipment company in the world for the innovative design and avant-garde applied technologies used in its products, which often served as inspiration for its competitors, since they are light years ahead.

 

 

With the beginning of its international expansion in 1978, the brand started to act massively in Europe and together with some countries in South America, the same year it created the football department and began to develop the concept of sports marketing as a strategy for its athletes. In 1980, all this energy would be increasingly concentrated in the creation of its first research laboratory that would act in specific analyzes and tests for the development of new products.

 

Brazil started to receive Nike products from 1988 onwards, but it was only in 2008 that the brand opened its first store in the neighborhood of the city of São Paulo, Pinheiros. Currently, there are more than 50 stores spread across the country.

 

 

Over these 50 years, we have been able to follow the arrival of the AIR technology, how it has been improved, in addition to the arrival of others such as Zoom, React, Lunarlon, among others. We also follow the launch of iconic models, several collaborations, and a very genuine way of valuing the athlete regardless of his modality. There were also initiatives to promote sports with the launch of social projects and amateur basketball leagues such as EYBL, in addition to the consolidation and expansion of the Jordan Brand.

 

We look forward to the next 50 years, and we can’t wait to discover all innovations Nike will bring us.
