Living up to the tradition of hosting the best amateur basketball tournament, this year STREETOPIA sought innovation again so that its participants could feel at home, live a unique experience and of course, deliver their best to win the long-awaited championship.
With the participation of CENTAURO, the main sports retail platform in Brazil, the well-known STREETOPIA OPEN, becomes, from May 7th the CENTAUTRO STREETOPIA OPEN 2022 with the best basketball structure ever seen in Brazil.
Every year during the tournament, we are pleased to unveil stories of several athletes, who, with great care and affection, are written and published on the STREETOPIA content platform as a way to immortalize them.
The debut of the CENTAUTRO STREETOPIA OPEN 2022 was marked by 8 very competitive games and incredibly fierce faceoffs, especially the victory of the Santa Fé Hunters over Mega Volts with the contribution of Haitian and small forward Pierre Jacques Fernandez, who was awarded the MVP of the game for having shown greater efficiency among the participating athletes.
Like most Haitians who seek in other countries opportunities and better conditions to develop professionally and socially, Jacques, following and living up his dreams, saw in basketball the possibility of connecting with different cultures, new horizons, developing himself and making a difference in the lives of many.
Having learned the game of basketball while still in Haiti as a teenager, the information technology professional later started participating in sports programs encouraging and guiding children to practice the modality. In addition, basketball served as a 'bargaining currency' to represent universities and thus have the possibility to study, in addition to being able to visit other countries such as Guyana, Jamaica and finally Brazil.
In a chat with Victor Santo, Editor of STREETOPIA, Jacques did not hide how excited he was for his participation in one of the first games of the CENTAUTRO STREETOPIA OPEN 2022: “Basketball is life, basketball is my life, I'm living my dream and very happy to participate.
