Last week the world of basketball was shocked to learn that Phoenix Suns and WNBA Mercury owner Robert Sarver had been fined by the NBA in the amount of $ 10 millions plus a suspension due to investigative findings of misconduct, use of racist and sexist language coupled with unfair treatment of female employees in both of his basketball franchises. But that was not all, later that week, allegations of pornography in corporate e-mails and messaging apps also surfaced, all these accusations have been somewhat related both of his teams.

The report made available stated that “Mr. Sarver engaged in conduct that clearly violated common workplace standards, as reflected in team and League rules and policies.” Soon after the report, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver called his actions indefensible and that he and the league were “saddened” and “disheartened.”

Quite a few players, and fans, called for a forced sell or transfer of ownership of both franchises under the guidelines of the league, but the NBA never took a step in that direction.

Today, Mr. Sarver put out a statement announcing he will sell both the Mercury and the Phoenix Suns.

“It has become painfully clear that it’s no longer possible – that whatever good I have done, or could still do, is outweighed by things I have said in the past. For those reasons, I am beginning the process of seeking buyers for the Suns and Mercury.”
