On the eve of the 2022-23 NBA season trades and negotiations continue as if we were in the middle of the offseason.
This time, Utah Jazz received the 31-year-old Canadian veteran forward center Kelly Olynyk and guard Saben Lee in exchange for trading Bojan Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons. A trade involving Bogdanovic had already been in the works since last month and it was finally concluded this week.
Utah was looking for someone experienced who could be both offensive and a strong presence below the rim when defending and that sounds a lot like an agile 6-foot-11 and 240 pounds forward and center.
Kelly began his career being drafted for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2013 but on the same night got traded for the Boston Celtics where he played for four seasons, he then signed a four-year contract, $50 million deal with the Miami Heat. After playing some time in the Houston Rockets for a couple of months before signing a new $37 million deal with the Detroit Pistons where he stayed until last week before joining Utah.
We wish the best of luck to Kelly Olynyk.
