If you are a current subscriber of the NBA app, you might be surprised on September 27 as the league is releasing exclusive content for its users on its new app highlighting backstage, locker room, and court never-before-seen footage of the Warriors’ victory last season.
The content being released today is Gold Blooded, which is a 7-part documentary featuring footage and interviews with team executives and players from the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry, showing special moments of how the Californian team won the last season’s championship. Emotional moments include the day Steph Curry broke the 3-point record in New York City.
Only two episodes will be available at launch and the other five will be released every Tuesday and Thursday subsequently. Director Dion Cocoros said that the format is extremely innovative in addition to being a unique storytelling format of the championship. The goal was not to focus on individuals, but on the journey of the team, which includes players and the entire staff of executives and franchise employees. Judging from the trailer on YouTube and the comments, people fell in love with the soundtrack as well.
“You can’t do a story like this without two key factors: an incredible NBA Entertainment archive, which obviously we had because the team had won four titles in the last seven years; and the cooperation of the team.” “I can’t emphasize enough how this only works if the Warriors give us access all season like they did, to document the journey. So, they played a huge role in not only winning the title, but also allowing us to have the access to the team to tell the story.” Said documentary director Dion Cocoros.
