The United States National Team of Women’s Basketball has set a new FIBA World Cup Record. The team led by A’ja Wilson scored 145 points (36 assists) against South Korea on Monday, September 26 in Sidney, Australia. The final score was 145-69.

The strength and predominance of the American team was already expected as the roster has 12 WNBA stars. Their past team record was 119 points in a game against Angola back in 2014. Brionna Jones scored 24 points. Another important milestone today in Australia was that this score beat the previous record set by the Brazilian National Team who had scored 143 points in the World Cup of 1990.

Despite the showtime on the offensive side, the real differential for this team is the defensive aspect, no team seems to be even close to breaching the talent and effectiveness of the Americans.

It was after the second half that it became visible that the Americans would win by a large margin, notably thanks to their defense, which seems unbeatable.
